Dune: Prophecy
Warning : SPOILERS in the lead for Dune : Prophecy instalment 3!Dune : Prophecyepisode 3 is titled " Sisterhood Above All , " and while it is primarily in citation to Valya Harkonnen ’s unfitness to say those Book as a vow to the Bene Gesserit , it also highlight Tula ’s single - minded devotion to her sr. baby ’s goals . The sequence spends more time than ever beforeexploring the Harkonnen girls ' livesbefore they officially link the Sisterhood , taking viewers to their bare dwelling house planet of Lankiveil and showcasing how other than Valya feel from her parents about the family ’s outcast position . When her brother Griffin dies attempt to add her the justness she desire , Valya is sent away to the Sisterhood , and Tula is left to take up the mantle of vengeance .
Despite her meek and compassionate ways , Tula ( played brilliantly by Emma Canning ) does indeed bring the Atreides to heelby the destruction ofDune : Prophecyepisode 3 , seducing Orry Atreides and dispatch his class while he kip . When he wake to happen upon what she ’s done , she reavets the whole accuracy of her identity and plans to him before killing him as well . Though her parent are horror-struck , Valya ’s approval is all she necessitate , and it is the last push both Sister ask to join the Sisterhood for goodness .
Desmond Hart is one of Dune : Prophecy ’s most interesting characters , but one theory intimate the soldier is harbour an intense secret .
ScreenRantinterviewed fire about step into the public eye asyoung Tula Harkonnen inDune : Prophecyepisode 3 . The worker shared her take on Tula ’s veneration to Valya amidst her own insecurity , addressed whether she considered letting her Atreides lover live after massacring his family , and tease future episode of the time of year .
The Bond Between The Harkonnen Siblings Is A Very Complex One In Dune: Prophecy
“Why don’t I have that voice or that passion? Have they taken it all, and there’s nothing left for me in the genetics?”
Screen ranting : We hear Tula say her sister never really much cared for her , but it seems like Tula very much cares for her sister . Can you speak about her perspective early on Valya ’s ambitiousness for the family ?
Emma Canning : She thinks Valya is the most incredible someone at everything , while she is n’t . Valya probably feels the same way because she does n’t want to be like anyone in her crime syndicate ; she ’s kind of repulse by them and wants to be as unlike as potential . Tula ’s elder sib , Griffin and Valya , have very clear goals for themselves . Griffin is going to be the head of the firm , and he ’s going to hopefully lift us out of this backwater satellite and assist us rise through the universe , while Valya ’s exit to be at his side as this unbelievable Truthsayer and determine woman .
I think Tula just feel a bit like a void . She has these two siblings to look up to that are so critical , so themselves , so vocal , and she ’s asking , " Why do n’t I have that voice or that passion ? Have they take it all , and there ’s nothing left for me in the genetics ? " Yeah , she just feels a piffling mixed-up .

Screen ranting : Tula may not have that warmth , but she does have compassion despite massacring the Atreides household , which we see when she save both the horse and vernal Albert . It ’s an interesting line of latitude to older Tula doing everything she can to save Lila . Did you see to Olivia Williams ' operation to guide Tula ’s development in your flashback scenes , and did you get to speak to her about the fourth dimension that ’s passed in between your interpretations ?
Emma Canning : I do think Olivia had the more difficult line of work because she had a huge amount of mental imagery work to do . Obviously , she does n’t get to play those scenes and then she has to also trace through what those events would do to a soul , whereas I have to just kind of live them and play them and react within them . The follow - through and aftershock are humble , and there ’s less to build and gather and to check that you ’re holding as you deliver your operation .
But it was really utile that she and I spoke about Tula and how we viewed her . We were quite gentle in our discussion of her , but Olivia is the young tyke [ in her mob ] , so she was able to really talk to that feeling of how you ’re perceived . One example she yield was like , " I own a house , but I ’m still a f – Rex baby . What is that ? Why I can do all of these grownup things and never be seen as an adequate ? "
Olivia had done some work before I started shooting , so the production sent me a little conniption gang , which was beyond useful . It meant that Olivia had really set a tone and built a cast . Even with her voice — I ’m Irish , and obviously she ’s English and speaking with an English emphasis . So , even that , I did n’t have too much to build by myself . I had a lot that was presented to me , and I just had to pick it up and make indisputable I keep it .
Emma Canning Breaks Down Tula Harkonnen’s Motivations In Dune: Prophecy Episode 3
“It’s like the floor has opened up beneath her, and she no longer has the truth of this.”
Screen Rant : I really love how we see the love affair toy out with Orry Atreides . Do you think that she had real feeling for him despite her murderous plan , and why does she say him the truth the second before she kill him ?
Emma Canning : Yeah , I think she 100 % has fallen in beloved with him . It was kind of whole ; the decisiveness was made that this was a sexual love story . These are star - hybridize lovers a la Romeo and Juliet , trap between two warring families .
plainly , it ’s not Tula ’s purpose to fall in erotic love with Orry . I think it by all odds throw her an in that he ’s interested , and she take it . I recollect she ’s so used to looking out of doors of herself and watching to get feedback that her own feelings are often unknown to her . They really do creep up , and I call up it all spins out of control .
I do n’t mean she expected him to ask her to wed her , and I do n’t know if she even feel worthy of being someone ’s wife . The fact that he ’s consider her in that direction is a major perspective shift ; to have someone want you to take that condition in their aliveness ? She ’s never been afforded that within her own transmitted dynamics , so I think that ’s a major jounce . His family being rather welcome is another huge impact .
We mouth about the prospect of the morning after , where she reveals her true identity . I play the panorama at the offset that , in my head , I ’m actually deciding I ’m move to abstract out the door here . I know what ’s gone on outside , and I bang I ca n’t stay , so I ’m getting out now . That ’s how I played the scenery , and it gave a real sense of , " I do n’t know what ’s going to pass off now that you ’ve rouse up . You ’re going to see what ’s outdoors , but I also desire you to know why I have done the things I ’ve done , because I value you and love you enough to desire you to know this . "
I call up another curve glob is him enounce , " I do n’t think it matters that you ’re a Harkonnen and I ’m an Atreides . I do n’t think that should affect us . " That is a thought she has not had before , and I think that him saying this is such a vast second . abruptly , she does n’t have a peg to stand on . It ’s like the floor has opened up beneath her , and she no longer has the Sojourner Truth of this . But still , " We do what we must . You are an Atreides , and I ’m a Harkonnen . This needs to happen . " Yeah , I essay to bring that scene like I did n’t have a go at it , and I was n’t sure that I was get going to follow through .
Screen Rant : You make the decision to introduce the Sisterhood at the close of episode 3 , travel along Valya against your parent ' wishes . Are we going to see you acclimating to that new purpose , and why did you make that choice right then ?
Emma Canning : Yeah , we will get to see Tula conversion into the Sisterhood and get to observe her try and escape from off any sound reflection of what her biography was before entering the Sisterhood - [ any echo ] other than being Valya ’s sister . We ’ll also get to watch how everything fall out us , as there is no clean faulting . We watch her deal with those result .
Why did she decide to follow Valya ? Certainly , at the commencement of the sequence , it was never in her mind that she would ever link up the Sisterhood . But she has nothing else at this moment . She ’s heartbroken . I recall she hat herself and has huge , Brobdingnagian regrets . Her house wo n’t lease her bury it , and it ’s all anyone ’s talking about .
Then Valya comes home and says , " We should be herald Tula . You are awesome . Griffin would be so majestic . " Suddenly , I have an image of Tula face in the mirror and hat what she sees . But then she has this new mirror in Valya , and it ’s one of positiveness and pride . I think Tula is cling to Valya like a lifeboat .
