Emma : Very much so .

Jaime : Beyond fun .   If there ’s another Christian Bible more than fun , and that ’s it .

Q : What kind of originative scabies did this scratch for you .. The pleasance you took in this .

Cloak and Dagger Jaime Zevallos Emma Lahana

Emma : I opine the fact that we address really important issues in the show . I think it ’s , on so many grade .   As an creative person , that ’s really cool once you have the amusement factor , but then also at something more . I think it ’s really significant to do . And then as a female to get a really complex layered character , you bang , it ’s reasonably new for me , to be fair , when I ’ve been doing this for a really longsighted time .   But you know , to get something that you scan the crack-up , you ’re like , oh , I actually have a mother wit of who this woman is as a human being . That really draw me in . As soon as I read the fictitious character breakdown of my audition , I was like , “ I want to get this part . ” Yeah . So that was fairly cool .

Jaime : I cogitate besides the obvious of being part of the Marvel menage it ’s like a dream come true . On a personal level , I become to say , wearing the non-Christian priest outfit , as shortly as i put it on it was like I started morphing into this affair and then like the day that I got there and Joe was there , he was like , “ Which Bible do you need ? ” I was like , “ I need this Bible , this rosary . ” And I put on the outfit and hair and makeup was there , and some of the wardrobe people were there , and I just did this thing and I went like , and she goes , “ You just give me a priest smile . ” And I go , “ I do n’t even do that in existent life . ” And I was like , “ What is this ? ”

Emma : ( LAUGHS ) It ’s true .   When you just did that , I was like , “ What , what , who ? ”

Emma Lahana in Cloak and Dagger

Jaime : Yeah , and I just did that to her . But I cerebrate just have a luck to play in this world and you eff , and that ’s , that addresses real thing .   But it ’s also dissipate in such a coolheaded mystique means . So it ’s like being part of a cool indie pic and also a studio level thing . So it ’s like the best of both worlds . portray this character where I can , I can make light up . And you know , there ’s , everyone has a priest joke or whatever , but really going into the human side of this , this person is . And you know , speak way out and trade with this , a youngster and how you deal with that . I do n’t have it off why , but I ’m like with all my supporter , I ’m the guy that everyone scream for advice and I ’m like,”Man , really , I ’m not certified . ” And so I could refer to that . When someone comes to you for advice .   And the thing is just listening and take heed to Tyrone I think was really cool . Being a wise man was really coolheaded .

Q : I definitely want to ask you , the show in the first few instalment deal with sexual assault in a real heartbreaking agency . What does that intend have to institute that story to life , especially in the current climate .

Emma : Yeah . Well in the climate especially , you know , everything that ’s go on right now . I mean I do a fate of volunteer with plan parenthood and we make for with organizations that deal with intimate assault and rape victims . And it ’s so sad because the fact that women just don’t- One they do n’t get heard . They ’re not think even when the evidence , overwhelming evidence is there . And so I see that all the prison term . And perchance even in New Orleans , I think in the last two age they have thousands and 1000 of case that are like overpowering . Like they ’re positive . It ’s truthful , it happened and none of them have even gone court , none of them have gone to tribulation . So I was kind of amongst that with the plotted parenthood people just talking about that stuff at the time when that came up . So it was really grievous because I recognize those conversations happened to young women all the time . When they ’re not croak to be believe , they ’re not going to be heard , that Department of Justice is not going to be serve . And you just have to like pick it up and move on and figure out how to deal with it on your own . And the systems in piazza , it should be there to trust and plump for you , just , they ’re not doing their caper unfortunately . So that fit was actually so surd to shoot . Because it did n’t make sense for Bridget to be crying .   But that ’s all I felt like doing . Especially like , you know , Olivia is so present , she ’s such a corking actress and in that moment in the automobile I was like , yeah . So I think it ’s great that we cover that too , because of the vernal girl that go through that . They ’ll be like , “ Yeah , that ’s what I run low through . ” And they can recognise and see themselves being examine . When the system in billet and see them all at least like , here ’s a show that sound out we see , you know , what you go through and we ’re recognizing that .

Q :   Were you surprised at how frank a show being made with superheroes for Freeform ending up being ?

Emma : Every playscript . I was like , “ What ? What really ? We can do that . Okay . ” Yeah . I was completely aghast . I think I thought it was expire to be a bit more like fluffy teenagey and like , you roll in the hay , when there as dark , as it kick the bucket .

Jaime : Yeah , Freeform being comparatively Modern .   The name rightfulness . Cause I always thought ABC Family , I ’d be like watching something rate - G. So when I commence interpret the book I was like , “ There ’s a oath give-and-take , there ’s a curse word . ” Oh I think this would be show for like kids .   That ’s what my idea was . I had no idea it would be this grounded and real . Even for me , I was like , “ Oh , that ’s a piddling risque . ” But I was like , “ Okay , coolheaded , lease ’s go there . ”

Cloak & Dagger

Q : With the superhero shows having popularity right now . What content do you desire for the broad interview to take away fromCloak and Dagger ?

Jaime : I think the beauty in the imperfection of multitude , I think that ’s what I would care to make . Because these are blemished characters .   I call back that everyone ’s a blemished character on the show . At least that ’s how I see it , all been serial regulars . I guess especially new kids , you know , being ashamed of who they are and stuff like that , and I think they can take forth with like , “ It ’s all right not to be perfect . ” And I cerebrate these are what these two untested superheroes are going through .   And they ’re just kind of like pushing through this hard life , you know , and kind of making it on their own . And I really prize these characters for it .

Emma : I think the idea of fight for what ’s correctly even though it ’s not the prosperous choice . And having to like really go for something , when you know it ’s the right affair to do .   Even though it ’s not the easy road to take . Despite your old age , despite your scope , all that stuff that like fighting for justice and for the right thing is authoritative .

Q :   Can you babble about Tyrone and Tandy ? Obviously you have issues with the bonds that they have with mass in their liveliness .   Can you babble about the relationship with your character and the Tyrone quality ?

Jaime : Well I ’m happy that Tyrone opens up to Father Delgado . It ’s more of a friendship and I guess that ’s a actual mentor when you may kind of sit down with someone and just kind of- I did a lot of volunteer body of work for a ship’s company bid Arts for a Better tomorrow in Mexico where you go shoot the breeze these orphanhood , some through churches and some through not . Basically you deal with , you get by with them as , as grownup , you know , they ’re like these mini adult already because they ’ve been be on their own street for so many year . And so when I was able to link with Tyrone in that storey , I was like , “ Okay , I ca n’t be like up here , I have to be down there with him . ” One of the thing that I read during this mentorship program was the first matter that the adults always stood and the kids were posture on the story . So what I did was I just sit down on the storey with them . And that can like a shot exchange the moral force . And I feel like that ’s the dynamic that I have , that I can have-to doe with with him in some capacity of what he ’s going through .   And that I ’m not perfect . And I have my own demons to battle . They say the , uh , I ’m an ex - smoking car . Right ? They say the good elbow room to quit smoke is to get advice from an ex - smoker . Someone who’s- So that ’s kind of like conceive the relationship we have .

Emma : I ’m trying to think of how I can say this without spoilers . Like , “ Ahh , do n’t ruin everything . ” I think the journeying that Brigid goes on with Tyrone and what he ’s go through is pretty spectacular . And watching his journey , what he ’s dealing with and the fact that she is an assurance public figure that maybe the only authority figure that they can swear in the law section . So I consider that journey of between Brigid and Tyrone is a pretty over-the-top .   But I ca n’t really say anything ( LAUGHS ) So I ’m just going to zip up it before I ruin the whole season .

Q :   This is a Marvel task .   How severely was it keeping the secret ? Knowing that it ’s such a close project .

Jaime : I can ferment for the CIA now .

Emma : I ’m moderately certain my sound is tapped . Pretty certain .   I stand for we had to keep the fact that we were even involved in the show closed book from July to February . So when we were n’t supposed to even say that we were in New Orleans .   Like we were n’t really admit to separate even like close house members and stuff , where we were going . It was like being in the attestor protection platform . I was like , “ I ’m here and do n’t call me and I ’ll verbalise to you six calendar month . ”

Jaime : I was like crowing on social media like powerful before we were filming I was really big on it .   And then when I was on set , I would exit the earphone in my preview . Because I know me , it ’s like a drug .   But there ’s a beaut to kind of like holding in that closed book to yourself and just to close ones and just knowing that this is just around the box .   Never experienced it before . Maybe on a small degree for the appearance that I ’ve done . But yeah , await so many month , you could n’t say anything . And when it come out , I still have my facebook page , and I get like , I got when it came out , specially the Entertainment Weekly , my Facebook messenger , which I do n’t use that much any longer . It was like , “ blup , blup , blup , blup . ” . And it was a lot of friends going , “ Why do n’t you tell me ? What ’s going on ? This is crazy . You should have told me . ”   So I ’m beaming I did n’t say anything .

Emma : I think the bad was the Freeform summit because we were allow for to say we were in it ab initio , but we were n’t allowed to say who we were play .   And then we were getting all these questions and I was like , “ Uh ? ” It was the most aflutter I ’ve ever been during an audience . Because I was like , “ Do n’t break it . Do n’t break it . ”

Q : Did you get a lot of interesting guessing ?

Jaime : And I do n’t jazz if one of these were online because I saw someone put like on one of these site . I believe it was like , “ Who ’s dally Father Delgado ? And blah blah , blah , blah , blah . There is a mystery behind this and the other characters that are n’t mentioned yet . ” So I was like , “ Man , this is online . Now I really ca n’t say anything . ”   But the comic Good Book geek world was trying to ascertain out .
