Summary
Vikings : Valhallaended with its third season , but the stories of its characters do n’t end there , as some of them went on to become kings of England after King Canute ’s ( Bradley Freegard ) death . Vikings : Valhallaseason 3 caught up with its main character seven years after the events of season 2 , in which Leif ( Sam Corlett ) and Harald ( Leo Suter ) arrive in Constantinople , Freydis ( Frida Gustavsson ) became the new leader of Jomsborg and the Jomsvikings , Queen Emma of Normandy ( Laura Berlin ) chance upon Godwin ( David Oakes ) was behind her assassination attempt , and King Canute return to England .

Harold Harefoot Reigned From 1035 To 1040
Harold Harefoot was the second Word of King Canute and Queen Aelfgifu of Denmark ( Pollyanna McIntosh ) . Harefoot made his first appearance inVikings : Valhallaseason 1 as a child , when he get in in Kattegat with his crony Svein and their gramps , King Sweyn Forkbeard ( Søren Pilmark ) , and it was he who found Leif after he killed Olaf ’s men . Seven class later , in season 3 , Harefoot was concerned in becoming King of England , and he tell Godwin about it so he would guide him . Harefoot killed King Forkbeardas he also want the pot , but Canute had other plan for him .
Harefoot agitate Emma ’s eldest son , Edward ( Cal O’Driscoll ) , to prove who was physically stronger and won , but that did n’t allot him the potty of England . Canute settle that his young Logos , Harthacanute ( Huey O’Meara ) , would be King of Denmark ( despite only being a child ) , and Harefoot would be his regent . However , at the end ofVikings : Valhalla , Harefoot was brought to England by Godwin after Canute ’s death to become King of England , and it was inculpate he and Emma would get together .
As Harefoot was the only one of Cnut ’s sons in England at the meter , he was named regent of England .

Harefoot benefit more and more support and was officially proclaimed king in 1037 , but this lead Emma to flee to Bruges , Flanders .
Harefoot died in 1040 of unknown movement and his last resting place is said to be the Christian church of St. Clement Danes , in the City of Westminster .

Harthacanute Reigned From 1040 To 1042
The material Harthacnut also became King of Denmark ( as Cnut III ) after Cnut ’s death .
InVikings : Valhalla , Harthacanute was Canute ’s young son and his only child with Emma , and he resolve he would be King of Denmark , with his half - blood brother Harefoot as his regent . However , as Harefoot travel to England to become king , it ’s undecipherable who manoeuvre Harthacanute during his reign . The real Harthacnut also became King of Denmark ( as Cnut III ) after Cnut ’s expiry , reigning from 1035 to 1042 ( as he die in 1042 ) . Harthacnut had various health issues throughout his life history and know he would n’t live for long . In 1041 , he make for Edward back from exile and select him as his heir , as he had no sons who could take the potty .
According to theAnglo - Saxon Chronicle , Harthacnut drop dead at a wedding as he put up at his beverage and suddenly strike and convulsed . Harthacnut appointed Edward as his heir to the throne of England and Magnus Olafsson as his heir in Denmark . Harthacnut was only 23 - 24 years old when he pop off .
Viking : Valhalla season 3 saw King Canute deciding who would succeed him as King of England , and the show made big changes to his children ’s portion .
3Edward The Confessor
Edward The Confessor Reigned From 1042 To 1066
InVikings : Valhalla , Emma had two Logos with King Aethelred : Edward and Alfred , who she sent to Normandy in time of year 2 for their safety following her assassination attempt . Emma reunify with her sons inVikings : Valhallaseason 3 , and while Alfred was glad to see her , Edward resented her for sending them to Normandy and not occur back for them until seven years later . When Canute summoned all his son , Emma ’s Word , and Harthacanute to settle who would succeed him , Edward fought Harefoot and lost , with Emma asking Harefoot not to kill him .
Canute say Edward and Alfred would return to Normandy , but Emma told Edward that was her determination , not Canute ’s , as she did n’t feel they were ready to predominate England yet , but knew they would one solar day . At the end ofVikings : Valhalla , Emma called for Edward after Canute ’s death as she knew the earls would turn against her , but Godwin did n’t let the message get to him and , instead , brought Harefoot as he assure to steer him to become King of England .
Edward break loose back to Normandy , and Harthacnut chose him as his successor .
The story of the literal Edward was dissimilar , and he became King of England at one point . During Cnut ’s sovereignty , Edward spent a quarter of a century in transportation , most probable in Normandy , and during Harefoot ’s sovereignty , he and Alfred traveled to England . alas , it was a trap , and Alfred was betray by Godwin and entrance , tortured , blinded , and killed . Edward escaped back to Normandy , and Harthacnut chose him as his heir . Edward was crowned in 1043 , but historians disagree on how good or not his reign was .
What Edward did , however , was repair the rule of the House of Wessex , and is considered its last Billie Jean King . Edward get hitched with Godwin ’s daughter , Edith , but as they had no heir , his brother - in - law succeeded him . Edward died in 1066 and was buried in Westminster Abbey , and Harold Godwinson was crown the following Clarence Day .

William the Conqueror Reigned From 1066 To 1087
Vikings : Valhallaseason 3 introduced some unexampled characters despite not having enough meter to develop their stories , and among them was William , Duke of Normandy ( Ely Solan ) . William was introduced when Emma and Canute come in Normandy , with Emma mention she was William ’s bully - aunt .
