Kelli Giddish hark back toLaw & Order : Special Victims Unitduring time of year 26 , episode 3 , " Divide & Conquer . " The installment aired on October 17 and featured a reunion between Amanda Rollins and her former mate , Olivia Benson ( Mariska Hargitay ) . She departed the series in 2022 after conjoin Dominick Carisi and has appeared as a guest star in bothSVUandLaw & Order : Organized Crime .
Now working at the NYPD Intelligence Bureau,“Divide & Conquer"sees Rollins approach the subject differently from Benson . While the latter remains focussed on the victim , the sergeant ’s prime object lens is catching the perpetrator . Giddish portion that she was mesmerised to learn about Rollins ' raw position , as it opens up an only new world for the fictional character . The former serial unconstipated also enjoyed mould withJohn Clarence Stewartand part that their onscreen partnership already had a " discharge of kismat " .
Law & Order : Special Victims Unit has been nominate for ( and won ) many awards , and its good instalment are a big reason why .
Screen Rantinterviews Giddish about reuniting with theLaw & Order : Special Victims Unitteam , Carisi and Rollins ' home living , and whether she ’d like to appear throughoutthe Dick Wolf universe .
Giddish Says Rollins' Skills Are Being Utilized At The NYPD Intelligence Bureau
“All of the things that make Rollins, Rollins, are really used to her advantage in this.”
Screen Rant : How would you say Rollins has settled into the Intelligence Bureau ?
Kelli Giddish : She ’s now a serjeant at the NYPD Intelligence Bureau , and she ’s induce a Modern partner , Detective Corgan , played by John Clarence Stewart . You now find out her giving a briefing to the NYPD brass , which is something you would never see Detective Rollins doing .
You see to it her already being throw into this new place , and her poise within that , and all of the things that make Rollins , Rollins , are really used to her advantage in this . I was fascinated when the writers told me they were recollect about putting her in the Intelligence Bureau because they would tell me some of the stories that they ’ve find out from the mass that actually are in the Intelligence Bureau .

I ’m just fascinated with these floor and how much they know and the things that they ’ve had to do to get entropy , and the fact that the NYPD has a orbicular presence for this to gather intelligence because it ’s New York City . It opened up this whole other world and just fancy Rollins thrown into it seemed very natural and really exciting to wager .
Can you talk about Rollins ' partnership with Detective Corgan ?
Kelli Giddish : I was n’t conversant with [ John Clarence Stewart ’s ] employment , and so I went on Google like anybody else , and I was like , " Oh , he was bear in the same place I was in literal lifespan , " so automatically we had something to babble out about . He ’s from Georgia .
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) is a procedural crime drama series created by Dick Wolf that follows cases handled by a fictional New York Police Department’s 16th precinct that centers around sexually-based crimes. The Show follows a rotating group of detectives that will tackle some of the most heinous crimes while trying to help the victims - and themselves - adjust to the new normal as the darkness in the world reveals itself with each new case.
We were both born in Stone Mountain , and so , powerful off the squash racket , we had an actual electric arc of kismat . That was really nice to escape with . Just seeing how much is said subliminally , what kind of linguistic communication they have without having to talk and that kind of affair was really fun to wreak with .
Rollins And Carisi Are In A Stable And Healthy Relationship In The Law & Order Franchise
“[She] is able to take these risks with her career because she knows she has such a solid foundation at home.”
It was bully to see Rollins work with theSVUcharacters again , but how does she feel about everything ? Did it bring up any nostalgia or gloominess ?
Kelli Giddish : I guess she ’s really thankful . She adjudicate to make this move from teaching , and the light is back in her eyes . She ’s so frantic . She ’s so curious about this world , and she ’s fascinated just like I am in person . She tells Benson , " It ’s eavesdropping on the whole world . " She ’s totally throw into this young arena and love it . Rollins has always been concerned first and world-class about the subsister in SVU .
I remember that ’s still her account — she ’s a subsister herself . But , I conceive in this , you saw her object glass differ a little piece . She ’s not Special Victims Unit . She ’s trying to get these bad guys come the pits or high water . That kind of differs from Benson ’s objective , which is always to take charge of the survivor first and foremost . You have to see , " But we have to get the tough Guy . "
It was fun to spiel that dynamic between Rollins and Benson where they ’ve always been totally in sync , and now it ’s like , " We have a little bit of a different objective here , and how are we both snuff it to be felicitous , and how are we both run to get what we need ? " Because we have such a long account , Mariska [ Hargitay ] and I and Benson and Rollins , those conversation are capable to be played out in such a existent organic way .
I make out that lover are hope to see more of Rollins ' marriage to Carisi and her family living . Is that something that could happen in the future ?
Kelli Giddish : Sure . I would hope that we would get put in their household , again . I reckon everybody likes to see Peter [ Scanavino ] be a dad . That ’s always fun . He really is the infant whisperer on set . Anytime there ’s a babe , it ’s like , " Give him to Peter if he ’s not happy . " It ’s a unchanging , healthy relationship now . You sense that because Rollins is now matured and is able to take these risks with her career because she knows she has such a solid foundation at dwelling .
Giddish Is Open To Playing In Other Dick Wolf Shows
“What an opportunity that Dick Wolf and company has set up with us all inhabiting the same world that that’s actually possible.”
Screen Rant : It feels like Rollins ' new Book of Job in the Intelligence Bureau could overlap with so many dissimilar show in the Dick Wolf universe . Would you be open to being onOne Chicago or anotherLaw & Orderseries again ?
Kelli Giddish : I suppose that ’d be so much fun . And what an chance that Dick Wolf and fellowship has fix up with us all inhabiting the same world that that ’s in reality possible . When I hold out over to Chicago P.D. , years ago , it was so much fun . You get to be on a completely different set with a whole dissimilar cast and gang , and you get to go act as for a week , so I ’m definitely open to any of that .
Screen Rant : Fans are also bait for you to get your ownLaw & Orderspinoff . Is that something that you would require ?
Kelli Giddish : I ’m so flattered to learn that that ’s something that people have been even let the cat out of the bag about . That ’s really , really sweet . So keep talk about it .
What is a story that you would wish to see research for Rollins that you did n’t get to do onSVU ?
Kelli Giddish : I think they ’ve done such a good job in [ season 26 , episode 3 ] with her being on the butt of these crime tourists , which is something I ’d never heard of before . It ’s something that ’s not in the world of SVU . You get to hear about this other full world through Rollins and what she ’s doing , and I shoot another instalment that ’ll broadcast in November , and it ’s so wild and so out of the ordinary for SVU .

I think the audiences are going to be like , " Oh my God , what ’s happening ? " It ’s really fun to be a part of that . It ’s all about our characters and how they interact . All of that is so ripe with thing that the audience knows about us . The writers can take wild chances with the episode , and I cogitate they do a really good line of work with the [ other one I ’ve filmed ] .
