InThe Immortal Thor#11 by Al Ewing and Valentina Pinti , Thor and his siblings are gathered in Ullr ’s Hall on Asgard , as they are about to venture on a grievous mission : find their lost crony , Tyr . Tyr , the God of War , has gone miss , and it ’s up to his siblings to recover him . However , before Thor and his team of all - god warrior dub the Children of Odin set off to find Tyr , they ’re joined by an uninvited ( and utterly terrific ) guest : their pal , Ullr , the God of Doom .
Ullr get in his own hall uninvited by his siblings gathered there , only to be their one and only scoot at finding Tyr . Ullr is identified as the God of Doom by Bragi , the original God of Poems and Stories , before Loki in effect take his role . It was also Bragi who invited Ullr , and it is he who warns the others of Ullr ’s power . While readers are n’t show the horror of Ullr ’s true nature to its fullest extent , anyone whose name Thor is nervous to utter ( and never has in his Marvel Comics history ) is one worthy of care , indeed .
While Ullr is introduced as a being of Doom and Death , it seems the polar is rightful as this comic progresses - at least , when it comes to the mission of finding Tyr .
Thor recently gain the powers of the All - Father , which he ’s learning to control in the Immortal Thor serial publication - and Marvel just settled his limits .
Ullr, the God of Doom, is Thor’s Only Chance at Finding Tyr
Ullr is introduced as the God of Doom , but he also survive by another name : Ullr the Wanderer . As explained in this issue , Ullr is one who wanders ostensibly aimlessly through the many realms he has entree to . He creates portals with his worshipful power , and travels wherever he desire , presumptively fetch chaos and desperation with him ( leave his report ) . Tyr is being kept within a Skinner Box , as the In - Betweener is seek to reprogram him by teach him ‘ the room of Oblivion ’ - which is knowledge that could demonstrate very unsafe in the hands of a God of War .
Despite Being a God of Doom, Thor’s Brother Ullr May Have Saved the Marvel Universe
If not for Ullr , the Children of Odin may not have been able-bodied to get to Tyr in fourth dimension , especially given that there was a traitor in their midst all along : Loki . Loki yield Tyr to the In - Betweener in the hope that the cosmic entity would remand him forever . It was n’t until Ullr brought everyone to the Skinner Box Labyrinth that the true order of magnitude of the situation was unwrap . If Ullr was n’t need , Loki would ’ve shape against the Children of Odin , since they got rid of Tyr to begin with , allow the In - Betweener to turn Tyr into a genuine monster .
While only time will tell if Ullr got the Children of Odin to Tyr in sentence before the In - Betweener turned him into something cosmically serious , he for sure gave his sibling a better guess than they would have had without him . This prove that , even though Ullr ’s terrific reputation preceded him , he in reality made his Marvel Comics debut as a on-key hero that may have just saved the Marvel Universe ( despiteLoki ’s meddling ) , making Ullr a worthy ( albeit still terrifying ) sibling of the MightyThor .
