In a preview forStar Wars : Darth Vader#48 by Greg Pak and Raffaele Ienco , Luke Skywalker is lured to a removed major planet by a grifter he knows key out Warba , who tells Luke that she has something he ’d be concerned in . Knowing that her message is probably a trap , Luke feels disposed to inquire anyway . Upon meeting Warba , the swindler gets kidnapped by Sabé , one of Padmé ’s old Handmaidens , who wanted to see for herself the extent of Luke ’s durability in the Force .
After Luke rescues Warba with relative ease , Sabé begins the veridical run she has for him . Sabé pulls out her blaster and starts firing live - bout at Warba , forcing Luke to jump in between them to save her . Luke blockage blast after blast with his yellow lightsaber before one of Sabé ’s shots really hits its target , with Warba taking chargeman flack to the shoulder . Upon see to it Warba injured for nothing more than some sick test conducted by someone he does n’t even know , Luke becomes strict and severe , angrily telling Sabé , “ Enough ! ” . To that , Sabé reply , “ There it is … ” .

Sabé is trying to push Luke Skywalker to bug into the dark side of the Force , but it ’s not immediately readable why . It seems ordered that Sabé is stress to prepare Luke for his eventual fight against Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine ( both of whom Sabé has been trying to kill for some time ) , and she believe the only way he ’ll have a substantial guessing is by utilizing the dark side . Or , perhaps her motives are the complete opposite .
Leading up to the events of this prevue , Sabé proved meter and again that she is a good someone . She go Vader ’s ‘ box test ’ inFree Comic Book Day 2024 : Star Warsin order of magnitude to aid someone in need , and she had a seemingly genuine eye to affection with Warba , where they discuss Sabé ’s intentions with Luke , and where Sabé all but assured her that she meant him no trauma . So , why would she then conduct this twisted trial to tempt him to the sour side ? Well , perhaps she needs to know that Luke can resist it .

Sabé was Padmé ’s Handmaiden , someone who was willing to give her life for Padmé at a moment ’s notice . That ’s a position one have for life , even if the person they ’re charge with protecting has died . Sabé is continuing her service to Padmé by protect her son . That ’s why Sabé is trail Luke , and why she ’s pushing him toward the dark side . Whether that ’s to coerce him to claim that index for himself to kill the Empire , or to rise he ’s potent enough to resist it , it does n’t matter . All that matters is Sabé ’s duty to keep Luke safe and alive .
Whatever Sabé ’s motivations or end goals may be , one affair about this preview is abundantly unclouded : Luke Skywalker will be pushed toward the benighted side . Will Luke harness the power of the grim side at the tooshie - oddment of his Yellow Lightsaber Era ? Or will he reject the sinister side all , allowing his lineament to blend in seamlessly into the result ofEpisode VI ?
