Marvel may have launch their cinematic universe in 2008 withIron military man , but it was not until 2013 that MCU related property begin to appear out of doors of theaters . federal agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.was an experiment to see what interest there was in this universe outside of the chief heroes , and has since helped bring forth even more display . Agent Carterwas only grant two time of year on ABC , while the meshwork continues to generate other possible Marvel - relate titles . Meanwhile , Netflix has thrived with their Marvel serial and is lucubrate with three fresh show next year .
There are plenty of other titles in development , such asRunawayson Huluor aNew Warriorsproperty star Squirrel Girl , but one of the recollective rumored properties to join the MCU has beenCloak & Dagger . The lovestruck tops duo was firstrumored to get a show all the way back in 2011 , but those hop for the series at last got good news whenthe serial was put to ordering on Freeform(an ABC affiliate internet ) . unluckily , Cloak and Dagger are not work to be take in their debut as soon as originally look .
THRdid a far-flung tarradiddle regarding the struggle that Freeform has had since the rebranding from ABC Family , which has affectedCloak & Daggeras well . The series was ab initio scheduled to debut sometime in 2017 , butTHRis now reporting that the duo will have to wait until the wintertime of 2018 to see the covert . On the positive side however , Joe Pokaski has been named the showrunner for the serial publication and is currently rewriting the script . Pokaski ’s most recent credit is being an executive producer onUnderground , but he is already familiar with the Marvel family after being a co - executive manufacturer onDaredevil .
It is hardly ever good tidings to hear that a labor is being push back , but it appears that this is not a result of the tone ofCloak & Daggeritself , and more a reflection on Freeform attempt to find the best way to distinguish this story to give them a boost in viewership . Attaching the Marvel brand will sure enough bring new eyes to the connection , which will soon be losing its most popular serial publication inPretty Little Liars . Even thoughAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.does not get the good ratings , it does pull in a solid number of viewing audience - specially from non - live viewings - and it is easy to think thatCloak & Daggercould furnish a boost to Freeform .
For now , those looking forward toCloak & Daggerwill have to hold off a small while longer . Pokaski will continue to work on the book before they look to cast the two , presumably young , top . If it does finally see the light of day , it will be interesting to see how the serial start within the MCU.Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.was quick to make a reference to the MCU whenever it could back when it began , but the Netflix shows have manoeuver off from obvious mention for the most part .
With Freeform potentially look toCloak & Daggerto be their next bounteous serial , it could take a like glide slope toS.H.I.E.L.D.What could be especially interesting is the crossover potential between these two serial . Since both are ABC channels , it could be more plausible with scheduling and contracts to have someone like Coulson or Daisy come out in the premiere to help take the novel heroes , or mayhap even come along in more than one episode . We will have to look and see if that is possible as the internet proceed to rework the show after giving itself more clock time to do so .
Cloak & Daggerwill premiere in the wintertime of 2018 .
